Biography
Cyril Poriel was born in Douarnenez (Finistère) in 1976. After a DEA in Molecular Chemistry (2000), he followed a PhD in the Laboratoire de Chimie Organométallique et Biologique (UMR CNRS 6509 - University Rennes I), under the supervision of Dr G. Simonneaux (MENRT scholarship). This work, centred on the sythesis and catalytic properties study of metalloporphyrin polymers was defended in 2003. In January 2004, he joined, for a post-doctoral position, the total synthesis of natural products group of Pr C. J. Moody at the University of Exeter (UK) where he worked on the total synthesis of Diazonamide A (EPSRC scholarship). He then joined the CNRS as a researcher in October 2005 to develop molecular materials for organic electronic applications

Research
The group is involved in the design of organic semi-conductors for organic electronic devices. If efficient multifunctional materials for electronics is always the goal of his fundamental approach, the nature of the “molecular objects” is at the heart of the research developped by the group. Indeed, the design of complex and original p-systems may lead to new and unexpected properties, which can be further used to open new avenues in electronics..
Three main research are developped in the group :
- Design of fluorophores for blue Organic Light Emitting Diode
- Design of high triplet host materials for blue phosphorescent Organic Light Emitting Diodes
- Design of electron deficient materials for n-type organic field effect Transistors
