Education and professional experience

Since Nov. 2014 CNRS researcher in the team “Chimie du Solide et Matériaux” at the Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes (ISCR), Université de Rennes 1, France.

2012-2014 Post-doctoral researcher at the CRISMAT laboratory, ENSICAEN, Caen, France, under the supervision of Ph.D. Yohann Bréard, Ph.D. Emmanuel Guilmeau and Professor Sylvain Marinel.

• Study of the influence of non-conventional sintering methods (micro-wave and spark plasma sintering) on the microstructure and magnetic properties of Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets, in collaboration with S. Rivoirard, N.M. Dempsey and D. Givord, Institut Néel, Grenoble, France.

•Study of the influence of the temperature on the crystallographic structure, purity and thermoelectric properties of sulphides materials.

2011-2012 Post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB Canada, under the supervision of Professor John M. Cadogan.

• Study of the magnetic structures of ternary intermetallic compounds with a high thermal neutron absorption cross-section rare-earth element (Sm, Eu, Gd) by neutron powder diffraction using a large-area flat-plate geometry sample holder and Mössbauer spectroscopy (119Sn, 151Eu, 153Eu, 155Gd), in collaboration with D. Ryan, McGill University, Montreal, QC Canada.

2008-2011 Ph.D. student in the research team “Composés Métalliques et Matériaux Hybrides” at the Institut Jean Lamour, Université Henri Poincaré Nancy I, France, under the direction of the Professor Bernard Malaman and Ph.D. Anne Vernière: Contribution to the structural and magnetic properties study of intermetallic compounds with the CeScSi- and Th6Mn23-type structure

Research interests

• Synthesis and crystal structure characterization of new inorganic transition metal cluster compounds - Study of their chemical and physical properties.

• Crystal structure resolution and refinement of new hybrid organic/inorganic metal atom cluster compounds.

• Study of the thermal stability and thermoelectric properties of complex sulfide materials: Cu4Sn7S16, Cu12Sb4S13, Cu26V2Sn6S32, Cu5FeS4, and cluster compounds, in collaboration with E. Guilmeau, CRISMAT laboratory, Caen, France.

• Study of the magnetic properties, magnetocaloric properties and magnetic structure of intermetallic compounds.

• Development of new synthesis methods and thermal analysis techniques.

Technical skills

• Sample elaboration: high frequency induction, arc-melting and conventional furnaces, Mo crucible and microwave heating synthesis.

• Crystallographic structure determination: powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder neutron diffraction.

• Magnetic and magnetocaloric characterization: DC, AC and magnetic entropy change measurements.

• Magnetic structure determination: neutron powder diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy.

• Thermal analysis: DTA, TGA, TMA, DSC.

• Microscopy analysis: electron microprobe, scanning electron microscope.
