Research themes

The main aim of our research group is to combine organic chemistry and biochemistry in order to develop innovative synthetic pathways. The targeted structures are glycoconjugates and glycodendrimers that possess immunostimulant and/or antiparasitic properties. Based on our targets, we wish to discover unexplored therapeutic means against some re-emerging diseases (tuberculosis, leishmaniasis, ...) or cancer. These activities can be illustrated through three main projects:
• Development of new antiparasitic agents derived from galactofuranose
• Conception of neo-β-(1,3)-glucans as new immunomodulators
• Modification of the natural activity of glycosidases thanks to molecular biology.

Key words / Scientific skills

• Carbohydrate chemistry and nucleotide synthesis: glycosylation, protecting groups, glycopeptides and glycodendrimers synthesis.
• Green chemistry: biocatalysis , atom economy, new media.
• Heterocyclic chemistry : multi-step synthesis, total synthesis of natural products and analogs, micro-wave assisted reactions, enantioselective catalysis.
